Osteopathic Manipulation Medicine (OMM)

At the core of Osteopathic Medicine is belief in the body’s innate ability to heal itself. In addition to providing standard medical care, an osteopath’s role is to locate physical or structural alterations and improve the structure and functioning of the body via manual manipulation of muscles, ligaments and connective tissues.

Osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) is a non-invasive, hands-on form of therapy used to prevent, diagnose, and treat many forms of illness or injury. It is central to osteopathic medicine’s philosophy of treating the whole person, not just addressing the symptoms. A goal of OMM is to prevent pain-free movement and overall health.
