Hypertension and Cardiac Dietary Program

Our heart healthy menus follow the American Heart Association's recommendations to help reduce your risk of heart disease and hypertension. Our menu is low sodium (below 2400 mg per day), and contains many foods rich in soluble fiber, high in omega-3 fatty acids such as fish, flaxseed and nuts.

The American Heart Association also suggests limiting the intake of red meat to promote heart health. Our dietary plan is low in fat - especially saturated fat - and proportionallly higher in unsaturated, polyunsaturated and monounsaturated "heart healthy" fats. The food choices are low in cholesterol, but loaded with foods rich in phytochemicals. Foods such as tomatoes, broccoli, and blueberries will supply lycopene and antioxidants known to aid in the prevention of heart, and other, diseases.
