Testosterone & Hormone Changes

Testosterone is a hormone that helps maintain sex drive, sperm production, pubic and body hair, muscle mass, and bone.

Testosterone typically declines in healthy males as they age, but the decline typically isn't worrisome unless they become symptomatic. Changes may become evident between the ages of 35 and 65 years of age.

All men experience the hormonal decline differently. Some men's hormone levels go down more rapidly than others affecting both a man's physical body and his health. Signs and symptoms can include: unexplained weight gain, problems with sleep and depression, loss of interest in sex, feeling irritable, erection problems, nervousness, problems with memory/concentration, muscle loss, increased urination pattern, loss of energy, and bone/hair loss.

If you are experiencing symptoms of testosterone decline and it's affecting your health and well-being, discuss the situation with Dr. Shalita and consider some tesing that will help you figure out what’s happening with your testosterone.
